Upcoming Books - Luther's House Postils

The current books  have been ordered for the intended readers. That does not mean they have all arrived. In another week, if you feel like an actor whose name was not announced at the Oscar's, let me know. Amazon's method of printing and delivery can only be interpreted at Delphi.

Priority

Luther's House Postils are the priority now, and Volume 1 is close to being sent to Janie Sullivan. They will be available in color, black and white, free PDF, and combined PDF with the House Gems. Thus Luther fans could search 11 volumes of Luther's Sermons from two free (color) PDFs. Thanks to WM for suggesting the House Sermons and Alec Satin for jumping on the project.

Next Two Books

I will writing the Ichabod Lutheran Dictionary next, a way to explain basic concepts in one volume.

Saddened by the pathetic Biblical knowledge of the Lutheran leaders, I am putting together exegesis of the Justification by Faith passages. The LCMS convention starts on Mrs. Ichabod's birthday, July 20th, so I want the exegesis out and available before then, hoping the McCain-Otten-Harrison triumvirate will be allowed to retire with dignity, grace, and contrition for their grave doctrinal sins.

Future Projects

Another request came in, over the transom - a history of American Lutheranism. I countered with a doctrinal history, because pure history gets rather tedious and does not lead anywhere by itself. Many church historians are atheists or indifferent.

Other things may develop.

Printed - Calvin Ruined the Protestant Faith

Calvin Ruined the Protestant Faith just arrived. I know some are getting theirs today - or soon.

The book is a visual delight, thanks to Norma A. Boeckler. I kept it in large format because those prefer a printed book also like the larger size.

I have started another round of print orders.

I do not mind at all if you check them out and see if they download for you. I have found that it is best to open each file in Microsoft Edge as a PDF, then save locally. Otherwise it tends to open as a web page, which is more difficult to use.

You can also download straight into your own DropBox storage. I highly recommend DropBox for backups, big files, photos, etc.

AKA Martin Chemnitz, aka the Second Luther, aka the Senior Editor of the Book of Concord. 

First

Calvin Ruined the Protestant Faith is almost done. The book will be in larger print, full-color, also in Kindle, and later a free PDF. The book includes Zwingli's influence, but try to fit that into a book title.

The author's price will be about $5, so it will be attractive as a book for adult classes.

I am looking into making all my books free PDFs in their most edited form, the level of near perfection sent off to the printers.

Second

We have Luther's House Postils ready for printing next - very close to it. These are sermons for the household, which Ludwig Fuerbringer valued for their advice about marriage, children, and other household matters. There are three volumes, illustrated by Norma A. Boeckler, and to be in color, black and white, and Kindle. Gems will be published a little later (not started yet).

Third

The Ichabod Lutheran Dictionary is being worked on - definitions, trivia, a little fun here and there.

Fourth

Justification by Faith - Exegesis. So many ignorant louts are braying and hee-hawing about their Objective Justification that someone needs to provide the exegesis for Justification by Faith, the Chief Article of Christianity. 

The plan is to do this in English and Greek, with English being dominant. Exegesis simply means - to declare, which means explaining what the text actually says. 

In John 1 - the Logos is the exegesis - He declares the true nature of the Father. Jesus is the exegesis, so we should not be shy declaring the text as revealed - rather than theses from Halle Pietists and Fuller alumni.

To help distribute more Gospel material freely, I have made all my books public domain, which means no permission is needed to reprint, edit, or translate my publications, past or future included. No fees are necessary or expected. Giving credit for using the original is sufficient – name, author, and date.

Luther's House Postils Being Prepared for Publication

1. Warren Malach encouraged us to pursue this project.
2. Soon - the text was prepared by Alec Satin, The Lutheran Library Publishing Ministry.
3. The covers are being completed by Norma A. Boeckler for the full color and black and white editions.
4. There will also be a Kindle ebook edition, 99 cents for each of the three volumes.
5. Janie Sullivan will work on the print and Kindle editions.
6. A Gems book will be compiled from the best long quotations in those three volumes, to be called tentatively - Household Sermon Gems from Luther's Postils. I hope to make it full color and shorter for inexpensive, beautiful gifts, the best kind of education and evangelism.
7. God willing, a combination PDF will be made of all three color volumes and the Gems, one file, offered free and public domain for anyone and everyone to share.

The people in world missions are very pleased about our free, public domain distribution of an increasing number of titles.

Alex Satin already has 72 books I have used, would use again,  and "new ones" I would gladly have in my print library. These are old Lutheran classics that should be known by pastors and laity but fall into neglect. Why? The ALC/LCA ignores their faithful scholars from the past. The LCMS-WELS-ELS leaders favor Walther, Fuller Seminary, and Willow Creek.

My books are all being made available as free, public domain ebooks. I will get more of them posted if I can get off this D5 avalanche for a few days. Yes, I have a welcome break from online teaching coming up for a few weeks. That will work out fine.

 Stanley Hauerwas said, "If you want to publish, Greg, you need a PhD. That is the union card needed for publishing."

These books are linked on Dropbox, and the link should work whether the individual has Dropbox or not. Please report difficulties to greg.jackson.edlp@gmail.com. I suggest downloading the free Dropbox software and using it for backups and large file transfers. Various exercises will allow the user to increase the free storage - as I have - to almost 16 gigs. I only use 5.5 gigs at this time.

These books are public domain, so anyone can copy, share, use, translate, or edit without asking permission or paying a fee. Giving credit where due is the norm, and publishers normally cite where the original can be found. John N. Lenker's Sermons of Martin Luther are a good example, where we give credit to Lenker, who gives credit to previous editions.

This was first a need for the African missions, so they can translate freely and use books as needed. Secondly, it is useful for those who want to use all or part of these books in the future.

R. C. H. Lenski, taught Justification by Faith and the inerrancy of Scriptures, just as Dr. Walter A. Maier did in the LCMS. Lenski's colleagues did their best to silence him and displace his faithful teaching.
